The middle school program of work and study is specifically designed to meet the unique developmental needs of the adolescent. The goal of this interdisciplinary program is to engage the students academically and creatively, and also to build a sense of community and social responsibility. Students will have the opportunity to enhance their academic lessons through interactive, hands-on practical work. Examples of this include managing a garden and campus weather station, building a business enterprise through a weekly salad bar for staff and students, and participating in ongoing community service projects and internship opportunities. In this way, students will achieve a higher level of personal responsibility, independence, self-esteem and a lifelong love of learning.
